Arches Velin BFK Rives Paper
1492 was a historic year for two significant events: as Christopher Columbus discovered the New World, the Arches paper mill was founded in the Vosges region of France. For more than five centuries, this paper has been chosen by the world's greatest creators — Albrecht Dürer, Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, and Salvador Dalí. Today, Arches is the only paper mill in France producing its entire output using the traditional cylinder mould method, and its unique, generations-old craftsmanship has earned it official recognition as a Living Heritage Company.
About this product:
- 100% cotton with an extensive colour range – the Velin BFK Rives line offers the widest range of shades in the Arches collection, with this striking black suited to bold, high-contrast work;
- Light sizing made for ink – the light sizing creates a smooth, highly absorbent surface prized by printmakers;
- Versatile use – suited to lithography, intaglio engraving, relief printing, linocut, letterpress, screen-printing, hot-foil stamping, as well as drawing with pencil, pastel, charcoal, or sanguine crayon;
- Dimensional stability – the paper withstands multiple passes through the press without wrinkling or warping, ensuring precision for multi-layer work;
- Archival quality – acid-free and free of optical brighteners, with an alkaline reserve providing long-term protection against acidification, compliant with the ISO 9706 durability standard.
